Refund Policy
Last updated: 17 August 2026
1. Point of sale
Software is sold exclusively through the MQL5 Market, operated by MetaQuotes Ltd. No payments are taken on this website. Because MetaQuotes is the merchant of record for those transactions, the MQL5 Market’s own purchase, licensing and refund rules govern the sale, and any refund is administered by MetaQuotes rather than by Dark Data Technologies.
Refund requests should therefore be raised through the MQL5 Market in the first instance. Notifying the Company in parallel is encouraged — understanding the problem is more useful than losing a user quietly.
2. Testing before purchase
The MQL5 Market provides a free demo download for every paid product, which can be run in the MetaTrader strategy tester before purchasing. Using it, and then running the product on a demo account, is the most reliable way to confirm the software behaves as expected with a given broker, symbol set and configuration.
3. Requests the Company will support
A refund request will be actively supported with MetaQuotes where:
- the product is materially defective and no working fix can be supplied within a reasonable period;
- the product does not perform the function described in its official listing and documentation; or
- a licence activation problem attributable to the Company prevents use of the product altogether.
4. Requests the Company will not support
Consistent with the nature of licensed software, refund requests will not be supported on the following grounds:
- Trading losses. A loss-making period is not a product defect. No trading software can guarantee profit, and this is stated throughout the documentation and in the Risk Disclosure.
- Results differing from a backtest or simulation. Live results routinely differ from historical simulation, for the reasons set out in the Risk Disclosure.
- Change of mind after downloading and activating a working product.
- Misconfiguration — settings, symbol, timeframe, leverage or risk parameters chosen by the user and outside the documented operating conditions.
- Broker or infrastructure factors such as spread, commission, swap, execution quality, latency, requotes, VPS downtime or terminal outages.
- Incompatibility disclosed in advance in the published requirements.
5. Statutory rights
Nothing in this policy limits any right conferred by the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded — including, where applicable, the right to receive goods of good quality and fit for their intended purpose.
6. Contact
Email darkdata.support@gmail.com with the MQL5 account name, product and version, broker and account type, and a description of the problem including any relevant terminal log extracts. Acknowledgement follows within two business days.
